Biometrics Data Collection 😎

What is biometrics?

Biometric authentication uses physical or behavioral human characteristics to digitally identify a person to grant access to systems, devices or data. Examples of these biometric identifiers are fingerprints, facial patterns, voice or typing cadence. Each of these identifiers is considered unique to the individual, and they may be used in combination to ensure greater accuracy of identification.

There's always someone who looks worse than you.Thank God for Mr Bean!😊

Because biometrics can provide a reasonable level of confidence in authenticating a person with less friction for the user, it has the potential to dramatically improve enterprise security. Computers and devices can unlock automatically when they detect the fingerprints of an approved user. Server room doors can swing open when they recognize the faces of trusted system administrators. Help desk systems might automatically pull up all relevant information when they recognize an employee's voice on the support line.

Fingerprinting requirement for Australian visa applicants residing in Iran:

Biometrics will be collected using a quick, discreet and non-intrusive process that captures a facial image with a digital camera and a 10-digit fingerprint scan with a digital finger scanner.

Applicants who have applied for their visas will be sent a letter informing them that they need to attend the Australian Biometric Collection Centre in person to provide their biometrics.

Please note the following for Biometric collection:

1-Your face must be clearly visible for a photograph to be taken. This means that you cannot:

  • have hair that covers the eyes
  • wear a hat or scarf or any other item that obscures the face, hair or neck (with the exception of religious head coverings detailed below).
  • if you wear a head or neck covering for religious reasons you must ensure your face is clearly visible, from the bottom of your chin to above your eyebrows including both cheeks. If possible both ears should also be displayed. You may also need to remove your glasses when the photograph is taken.

2-If you have cut or damaged your fingertips, you should inform the Australian Biometric Collection Centre when the injury has healed.

3-If you have a temporary decoration, such as Mehdi, you should advise the Australian Biometric Collection Centre when submitting you application whether a scan will be possible.

If you refuse to submit your biometric data, your visa application cannot be processed and you will be referred to the Australian Embassy in Iran.

Applicants who are under 5 years of age, persons incapable of providing consent, or those physically unable to provide a fingerprint scan, will only need to provide a facial photograph.

Presences of parent or guardian are required for the less than 16 years of age applicants at the time of Biometric data submission at ABCC.
